Position: Capacity Building Services Officer (KCSSP Program)
The Capacity Building Services Officer will support the D&G Program Manager to provide training, mentoring and guidance to program partners. Under the direct supervision of the D&G Program Manager, the Officer will assist in assessing current practice; structure and policies, identify appropriate capacity building interventions, design training curriculum and provide training and mentoring as services to target CSOs under the program. S/he will support peer learning on key cross-cutting issues within KCSSP, keep abreast on changing sector knowledge and best practice. The target Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) may be located in any part of Kenya and there will be need to travel frequently to project sites wherever located.
Main Roles & Responsibilities
These will include and not limited to the following:
1. Contributing to program planning and implementation
2. Assessing current partner practice using organizational and technical capacity assessment tools
3. Developing and adapting training modules to partner training needs
4. Facilitating training workshops and other learning events
5. Providing mentoring and support services
6. Monitoring, evaluation and reporting
7. Promoting knowledge sharing and peer learning.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences or related fields. Master’s degree or experience in curriculum development would be an added advantage.
- Post graduate qualifications in program/project design, development and management.
- 3 years relevant work experience in capacity building/organizational development specifically in
democracy, and governance sector
- Good understanding of knowledge management
- Strong analytical and report writing skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the region, work extended periods in the field and interact effectively with local communities and willingness to learn new approaches.
