Umoja Pamoja - "Get in Line" Campaign
On Saturday, November 24, 2007, over 2000 people turned out in Nairobi to join hands and form a human chain around Parliament in a display of unity and purpose for the elections. Promoted as “Umoja Pamoja”, the “Get in Line” campaign was organized by Eric Wainaina and other local artists to call upon political candidates to address the issue of corruption and transparency in government, to focus on issues and to denounce political violence.
The initiative also hopes to restore a sense of lost patriotism among the youth, to shun violence and tribalism in this elections and vote on the issues that affect them.“Umoja Pamoja” is one of two activities supported by KCSSP relating to elections.

Governance and Leadership Workshop
Pact organized a workshop on “Governance and Leadership” at the Jacaranda Hotel in Nairobi on September 18-20, 2007, bringing together some 36 CEOs and Board Members from CSOs supported under the KCSSP program. The workshop provided a platform for participants to learn, share experiences, challenges and best practices in leadership and governance in their organizations. Pact also invited speakers from the NGO Board, the NGO Council and practitioners in the civil society sector who gave very insightful presentations on topical issues. Following this training, the Pact KCSSP team will visit various CSOs for further training and technical support on how to address specific issues the organizations identified at the workshop.
