COALITION FOR ACCOUNTABLE POLITICAL FINANCING (CAPF)
Founded: 2004
Project Title:  Clean political Financing for better Governance
Grant Type: Small DG                        Grant Period: 6 Months
Project Description: CAPF is a coalition of governance focused civil society organizations in Kenya intent on coalescing their expertise, experiences and programmatic resources towards the improvement of the regulation, management and culture of political party financing in the country. Its purpose is to promote dialogue and build support for political party finance reforms among political parties, civil society organizations and the general public through research, advocacy, civic education and partnership building. CAPF support will promote stable, vibrant and accountable political parties in Kenya through advocacy activities for the adoption of a comprehensive Political Parties Bill and to establish a framework for monitoring political party spending, beginning with the 2007 general elections

ENVIRONMENT LIAISON CENTRE INTERNATIONAL (ELCI)
Founded: 1974
Project Title: Community Mobilization Assistance for Wildlife Policy and Legislation Review Regional Workshops
Grant Type: NRM Advocacy            Grant Period: 5 months
Project Description: ELCI’s mission is to make information a useful tool for environmental management and sustainable livelihoods with the aim of enhancing the capacity of communities and policy makers towards sustainable environmental management. ELCI received two short-term grants to support and compliment Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife (MoTW) mobilize communities in 22 regions nationally to effectively participate in the wildlife policy and legislation review process.

FOREST ACTION NETWORK (FAN)
Founded: 1994
Project Title: Empowering forest adjacent communities through advocacy for effective implementation of the new forests act for social justice and economic benefits
Grant Type: NRM Advocacy Grant Period: 9 Months
Project Description: FAN advocates for an improved policy and legislative framework for the sustainable management of natural resources in Kenya. FAN is receiving support to create awareness among community forest associations (CFAs), the public and other stakeholders by educating them on their roles and responsibilities as stipulated in the Forests Act 2005; Support various structures and institutions established by the Forests Act 2005 to understand their respective roles so as to effectively implement the Act; and, to address technical capacity gaps of FAN project staff in order to work with other stakeholders to monitor the implementation of the Forests Act 2005.

YOUNG WOMEN IN ACTION NETWORK (YOWAK)
Founded: 2006
Project Title: Strategies to Increase Democratic Participation for Young Women in Kenya
Grant Type: Small DG Grant Period: 9 Months
Project Description: YOWAK works to mainstream the participation of young women in development through advocacy and awareness creation. YOWAK will conduct awareness rising and advocacy activities to redress marginalization of young women in governance by increasing their participation in the General Elections and improving their representation in CDF structures. This intervention seeks to mainstream young women into governance by addressing the socio-cultural and political factors that obstruct young women’s involvement in leadership and decision-making.

YOUTH AGENDA (YAA)
Founded: 1996
Project Title: Monitor and Report on the Form, Extent and Nature of Pre- Election Involvement of Youth in Electoral Violence, Intimidation and Bribery
Grant Type:  Small DG                        Grant Period: 8 Months
Project Description: YAA is a pioneer in youth organization and mobilization for participation in the governance process in Kenya. YAA support will provide an authoritative report on the perennial problem of use, misuse and abuse of youth during electoral processes and lobby the relevant stakeholders such as law enforcers and the Electoral Commission of Kenya, to take necessary interventions to avert violence. This project will promote positive and effective participation by young people in the 2007 elections while reducing their involvement as perpetrators of electoral violence and such other related malpractices.
